Making Memories

In an over documented lifestyle that we live in, living in the land of Facebook and Instagram many of us take several snaps a day. We document our lives, the weather, our recent purchases, hell we even document the food we eat, yet we seem to forget to document what is really the most important thing in our lives - our family.

Often it is Mum's iphone that is capturing these memories  while she is safely tucked behind that smart phone screen her existence goes unseen. She is missing from the memories that are being captured. The one who is up half the night with you, the one who makes sure your face is clean as you head out the door, the one that comforts you in your time of need - the one that makes your world go around is missing from the majority of your childhood photographs!

In reality we as Mothers are busy, we are often rushing around with our hair thrown up in a bun and if we manage a full face of makeup we are doing exceptionally well. This being said we prefer to be the ones taking these images and choose to steer clear of the random photo opportunities with our children - I myself am guilty of this!

We need to change this, we need to be present in photographs for our children. The memories and images that are captured of us together will be cherished by them as they grow older.  Our time on earth will eventually come to an end and your children will want to remember all the good times you had together, the love you had for them, the way you made them giggle. Our memories begin to fade yet photographs tell a story.... they remind us of how our family was at that point in time. They will become treasures.

Katrina and her family came along for their family session last week, I have photographed her children several times over the past 3 years however the focus for this session was based around making memories of them all for her children to look back on. For those that don't follow her page she is on a personal weight loss journey and is making out-standing progress. She wanted to mark this time of her families life, capture her children, her soon to be husband, the love between them all.
